Start of Kuhlerz
In 2009 Professor Dr. John Bernard approached Martin von Taschitzki, owner of Aratowerk, Germany, challenging to find a way to cool cows, but use less water than existing methods on the market.
In the years prior Professor Dr. John Bernard had worked with High-Volume, Low-Speed (HVLS) fans, but found “that the internal temperature of cows cooled with HVLS fans was approximately 0.2o C (0.3o F) higher than those cooled by conventional high-speed fan ventilation.“
A low pressure cooling system provided by Arato was installed and tested at the UGA, Tifton Campus.
The results were published in the study “WATER USE AND EFFECTIVENESS OF A LOW PRESSURE MISTER SYSTEM FOR COOLING LACTATING DAIRY COWS DURING CHRONIC HEAT STRESS“
Prof. Dr. Bernard's verdict was: “Results of this trial indicate that the low pressure mister system is as effective as the high pressure mister system … However, the low pressure mister system used 43% less water than the high pressure mister system, which is important for reducing total water usage.“
This system was thereafter further refined and marketed under the CowKühlerZ trademark.

The Early Years
In 2014 the company KühlerZ, LP was founded in Duluth, GA as the import and distribution company for the USA and Canada and the CowKühlerZ System was completed with the introduction of the KühlBlu fan, which was the beginning of the extreme energy efficient-high velocity cooling solution as offered today.
